Calling it Omega 3 is devaluing it!!

It's true, each capsule contains 50% omega 3 of ALA type (alfa linolenic acid) that is produced from Clary Sage plant seeds. Yes, ALA is good for preventive health care and as a cure for some of the life threatening illnesses people incur as a result of the industrialized food we eat. The therapeutic benefits have been researched for decades and plenty of recommendations were published to consume omega 3 as food additive.

So, why am I writing this blog post?
It's because of the other ingredients in this capsule. We should call it "Omega 3 on steroids" or, "Omega 3 plus". When my finger skin got burned while cooking, the skin turned red. I applied Clary Sage oil to the skin. After a few hours, NADA, no trace of burned skin left.

Here it comes ... Two pre-clinical experiments on Clary Sage health benefits were conducted by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The experiments focused on areas were health benefits were examined comparing to other Omega 3 oils (fish oil, pure ALA oil, flax seed oil etc) with the progress of the experiments the researches found that Clary Sage oil has it’s unique health properties which are not 100% relaying on the high concentration of Omega 3 in the oil. Researchers concluded that the therapeutic benefits rely on the natural health promoting ingredients in the oil per se.

One of the studies was designed to examine the effect of Clary Sage oil on the course of inflammation using two models of colitis. The purpose of the experiment was to study and compare the affects of two different sources (Fish Oil and Clary Sage oil) of on colitis (inflammation of the colon). It was concluded that the intake of Clary Sage oil reduces the level of inflammation and reduces the damage for the colon tissue in rats, infected with Colitis!

Clary Sage oil contains the following active ingredients among others: Omega 9; Coenzyme Q10 a vitamin-like compound which is present in all cells and acts as antioxidant that also improves the efficiency of cellular energy production, regulates genes concerned with energy production and Stabilizes cell membranes; Lectin; Tannic acid that has Anti-bacterial, Anti-oxidant Antiseptic, Antiviral, Anti-mutagenic and Astringent properties: Sclareol that has Antioxidant, Antibacterial and Antifungal properties and posses cyto-toxic and cyto-static activity; Linalool and Linalyl acetate that were found to be effective as Anti - inflammation, Antibacterial, Antifungal; Manool that have been proved as platelet aggregation inhibitors and effective Antimicrobial; Caryophyllene oxide that was found to be effective as an Antifungal against dermatophytes; Plant Sterols that reduce the uptake of cholesterol into the body - As a result blood total and bad (LDL) cholesterol decrease, while good (HDL) cholesterol is not affected; Vitamin E known to help prevent or delay coronary heart disease by limiting the oxidation of LDL-cholesterol and prevent the formation of blood clots!

Well, that's enough for one post, don't you think. One could write and write for hours about the health benefits of Clary Sage oil ... wait for the next blog post :).
